LONDON

Netball Uganda has appointed Dr. Manoj Joshi, a UK-based businessman and pharmacist as an International Brands and Sponsorship Director.

Dr. Joshi signed a three-year contract at the Ugandan High Commission in London, in the presence of High Commissioner H.E. Nimisha Madhvani and Member of Parliament Charles Ayume.

Dr. Joshi is expected to lead the growth of international partnerships, sponsorships, fundraising, marketing and brand enhancement, event program development, and stakeholder engagement. He brings a wealth of experience and a strong reputation as a prominent figure in the Bradford community in the UK.

“It is a huge honour to have been appointed to this role, but that honour means little unless I deliver results. I am here to fulfill the objectives of Uganda Netball, but I am also deeply passionate about Uganda as a country. I am a third-generation Ugandan by birth. We are here because we want to give, and giving is far more rewarding than receiving,” Dr. Joshi stated.

Netball Uganda president Jocelyn Ucanda feels the latest appointment will transform netball in Uganda and the national netball team, the She Cranes.

“It is crucial to have someone of Dr. Joshi’s calibre to connect us with partners and sponsors in Europe. We have noticed that the world gets excited when the She Cranes are playing, and stadiums fill up because Uganda is on the court,” Ucanda stated.

“Our vision is to see netball grow from the grassroots to world-class standards, becoming an inclusive game that fosters unity, excellence, and national pride beyond Uganda’s borders. We are grateful to the Ugandan High Commissioner in the UK for facilitating our networking efforts and helping us connect with potential partners during our visit for the Quad Series.”

Dr. Joshi has accepted the three-year contract and will begin his role on April 1, 2025, through to May 30, 2027.
