The She Cranes have registered remarkable performances in recent months.
And to acknowledge the netball team’s success, the Uganda Olympics Committee (UOC) crowned the She Cranes as the Best Female Team of the Year award during the inaugural UOC Awards held at Sheraton Hotel on March 19, 2025.

The She Cranes were voted ahead of the rugby and volleyball teams, while the awards for the male teams went to the Rugby team. Baseball and Volleyball were the other nominees.
Olympians Joshua Cheptegei and Peruth Chemutai won the Best Male and Female Athlete of the Year Awards.
Chemutai was picked ahead of She Cranes star Margaret Baagala and badminton player Husinah Kobugabe.
“As Netball Uganda, we are proud of our national team and our star athlete Baagala. This will certainly motivate us ahead of an exciting year for us,” Netball Uganda president Jocelyn Ucanda stated.
UOC president Donald Rukare stated: “This was a time to celebrate our athletes, our administrators and our corporate partners, so we were able to celebrate all athletes from our 33 members,” Rukare noted.
The dinner was also attended by among others the Special Presidential Assistant (Education and Sports) Gunter Lange, Mr. Yi and Mr. Liam from the Chinese Embassy, Trushpp Upadhyay from Graphic Systems, representatives from the French Embassy, federation heads and presidents as well as athletes from the 33 UOC-member federations.
