Twelve teams have been confirmed for the revived Uganda Netball Super League, setting the stage for an intense battle for supremacy as the country’s top domestic netball competition returns after a two-year break.

Kampala – Defending champions Prisons Netball Club headline the field, returning with a strong squad determined to defend the title they last won in 2023. The warders have retained the bulk of their championship-winning team while making key additions during the off-season, placing them among the early favourites.

Several traditional contenders are also expected to mount serious title challenges. NIC Netball Club, UCU Angels and KCCA Netball Club all return with strengthened squads following the extended hiatus, having focused on player development and tactical refinement during the league’s absence.

Matches will be played across multiple rounds at Nakivubo and Kamwokya, providing teams with regular competitive action and fans with consistent access to top-level netball in the capital.

The league’s return has also opened the door for emerging clubs to challenge the established order. The extended break allowed smaller teams to invest in youth development and recruitment, a factor that could narrow the gap between the traditional giants and the chasing pack.

UCU Angels, representing Uganda Christian University, are among the sides expected to pose a strong challenge. Their mix of youthful energy and structured play, shaped through university competitions, makes them one of the most unpredictable teams in the league.

As the season unfolds across Kampala’s courts, performances over the coming weeks will determine which team rises above the rest. What is certain is that after two years without league action, all twelve teams begin the campaign with renewed hunger and ambition to leave their mark on Ugandan netball.
